Summary of Musical Goals for Rhythmic-Solfège I

(Approximately Ages 6-8)

1.      Learn to identify all of the names of the notes that rest on the grand staff (including the notes that rest on the staves containing the bass and treble clefs)

2.      Know how to conduct simple meters of 2, 3, and 4 with arm beats

3.      Know the C major tonality with note-names and number functions, including half-step and whole-step locations        

a.       Tonic and Dominant arpeggios with note-names and numbers

4.      Know the structure of the minor pentascale with numbers

5.      Basic note and rest values (rhythms) to be known and stepped in any combination
